Why is our world so messed up, and why can’t we fix it? Are there any answers to the problems we see all around us?

Aristotle said, “Excellence is an art won by training and practice. We don’t act rightly because we have virtue or excellence, but we rather have those because we have acted rightly. We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit.”

To paraphrase Aristotle, “Knowing is not Doing! We don’t Know something if we don’t do it…” We know what is right and true, but we don’t do it…

The Apostle Paul tells the believers in Roman the same thing; Romans 7:18-19

Aristotle said, “We are what we repeatedly do.”

Paul said, “I’m repeatedly not doing the good I want to do.”

By Paul’s own reasoning he’s a sinner; Romans 7:20

What is Sin? Hamartia means “To miss the mark

To Aristotle, Sin would be to fall short or excellence, or miss the mark of excellence. So, we have an agreement here between Aristotle and Paul… To not habitually do what is good and excellent is “Sin“…

The war that is overtaking our world is a war ideologies to control the body, mind, and heart of the worshipers…

Our war today is a spiritual war… it’s a war against spiritual darkness… Eph 6:12

We’re equipped by the Spiritual forces of GoodnessIsaiah 61:1, Romans 12:21

How do we get this Spirit of Goodness so we can fight the Good fight against the spiritual forces of evilness? 1Tim 6:12

Without the Spirit we are fighting a losing battle because we can’t be good… Where does the “Good” Spirit come from? Luke 18:18, Mark 10:18

We have “No” Good… Psalm 53:3… How can I do good, if I’m not good? We would have to be something different than we are. We’d have to become something we aren’t… We’d have to be “Born Again”

The phrase “Born Again” appears in the Bible only 4 times… John 3:3 & John 3:7, 1Peter 1:3, & 1Peter 1:23

What does “Born Again” mean? Matthew 8:2-4, Jesus gives us our first clue…

The last will be first… Matthew 20:16

Paul reaches the same conclusion as Nicodemus; Romans 7:24
