Is what is happening in the world today described in Revelation? Are the terror attacks signs that the end of the world is coming? In this episode we will discuss these questions and more and discover God’s warnings about the future of mankind.

What is Freedom? If we have freewill can we do anything we want to do regardless of how it affects other people?

Jesus talked to His disciples about the meaning of freedom; John 8:31-32

If we live by the words of Christ, then Truth will be clear to us when we see it… And when we see we will realize the freedom that Christ told His disciples about…

The prophet Isaiah describes the freedom that Christ was discussing with His followers in Isaiah 61:1

We can see that people believed that Jesus would set them free from Roman domination; John 18:33-38;

Truth here means “What is real or what isn’t being concealed or hidden“…

The Apostle James expands on the realization of the truth that Pilate experienced, before he turned his back on it, when he wrote in James 1:23-25;

Do others know us by seeing us?

The Apostle Paul verifies that there are two worlds when he writes to the believers in Rome in Romans 8:20-21;

When mankind fell in the garden, the entire creation also fell with us… Not just the earth, but the whole universe was “subjected to futility.” Why did God do this to His own creation? He did it in the hope that it would be set free from its’ transientness, when the children of God are also set free from the bondage of the physical world.

Do we or don’t we “Get It“?

We can see from what Isaiah, James, and Paul say, “Freedom is a matter of perspective“… Jesus said, “Where your heart is, there is your treasure also.” Your heart is your perspective on life. Do we see true life as physical or spiritual? Where do we find true freedom? In the physical world where corruption is king, or in the spiritual world where Jesus is king?

In 2 Corinthians 3:17, Paul said freedom is spiritual. Jesus said God is a Spirit; John 4:24

We have certain degrees of freedom in our world… We talk about;

  • Freedom of Choice
  • Freedom of Speech
  • Freedom of Religion
  • Freedom of the Press

American president Franklin Roosevelt said there were 4 freedoms; freedom of speech, freedom of worship, freedom from want, and freedom from fear

Animal rights groups say there are 5 freedoms for animals; freedom from hunger and thirst, freedom from discomfort, freedom from pain & injury, freedom to express normal behavior, and freedom from fear and distress

  • Freedom of Choice – who’s choice… your choice or my choice… if you can’t choose do something because it affects my choice against what you want to do… where is the freedom?
  • Freedom of Speech – Can you say whatever you want to say to whoever you want to say it to?
  • Freedom of Religion – Can I practice a religion that society deems to be inappropriate?
  • Freedom of the Press – Can I writes things as a journalist that are false or misleading? Can I prepare articles against those with whom I disagree, because I disagree?
  • Freedom from want or fear – One person’s fears are another person’s fantasy… I fear heights, and someone else jumps out of airplanes…

Our freedoms are flawed because our world in flawed. The only true freedom is spiritual. The only place we can find true freedom is in our heart and soul. No one can limit the freedom I have in my heart and my soul.

So what is Freedom?

Paul wrote about we should express our freedom; Galatians 5:13

The Apostle Peter also wrote about expressing freedom; 1 Peter 2:16 “Live as people who are free, not using your freedom as a cover for evil, but living as servants of God.”

When expressing our freedom we have 4 choices;

  1. I can move to a place that doesn’t restrict my expression of faith in God…
  2. I can try to legally change the restriction…
  3. I can worship God as I choose and accept the consequences…
  4. I can obey the restrictions and worship God in the freedom of my heart, soul, and mind…

We see examples of these 4 choices in scripture;

  1. Abraham moved from his father’s country to a land God showed him… The disciples first preached Christ in the Jewish synagogues, and when they were withstood, they preached Jesus in private homes…
  2. In the first and second and third centuries certain Christian practices were outlawed throughout the Roman world because they were misunderstood… communion was thought to be cannibalism, but eventually Christianity was legalized in the Roman Empire.
  3. When the king of Persia passed a law that said you couldn’t pray to any other God except the king or you would die, Daniel continued to pray to God and accepted the consequences.
  4. Daniel is also an example of obeying restrictions on the worship God in his heart, mind, and soul.

If we use our freedom to incite and inflame others to evil because of our freedom, then we aren’t serving God and others in love.

What is Freedom? Freedom is “Getting the truth“… Once we get the truth we will experience real freedom…

We have the freedom to change our destiny for a day, a year, a century, our a millennium, if we “GET IT“…
