A. Meet the Author of the message; (Rev 1:4-5)

1.  God the Father – the eternal One…

  • Him who is… God is love (1Jn 4:16), God is Spirit ((Jn 4:24), God is the word (Jn 1:1), God is everything (Ex 3:14)
  • Him who was…
  • Him who is to come…

God the Father and Jesus are the same (Jn 1:2-5)

2.  The Holy Spirit – Isa 11:2 (Isa 11:1-5)

  • The seven spirits who are before the throne.

In every way the 7 Spirits of God are seen in Christ; (Isa 11:1-5)

  • He is the creator of everything… (Jn 1:3)
  • He maintains our entire existence by His wisdom… (Lk 11:31)
  • He understands the effects of every detail… knowing God’s will… hairs on our head numbered (Lk 12:7)
  • He is our problem solver… the testing of Christ (Mk 12:17)
  • He can overcome anything… overpowered death (Matt 28:18)
  • He has everything figured out… his trial (Jn 21:17)
  • He alone deserves our awe & reverence… his ascension (Acts 1:6-11)

 3. Christ

  • The faithful witness
  • The firstborn of the dead
  • The ruler of kings on earth

The Author of the book of Revelation is the fullness of God; Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. All three are seen in each, and all are in Christ. The author of the revelation of Jesus Christ is Jesus Christ.

B. The Authority for the message; (Rev 1:5-8)

To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood and made us a kingdom, priests to his God and Father, to him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.

  • He loves us…
  • He set us free…
  • He made us a kingdom
  • He made us priests to God…

The Blood of Christ is the authority for the message…

C. The Assurance of the message; (Rev 1:9)

  • Tribulation – trouble, persecution, affliction… (Jn 16:33)
  • The Kingdom – sovereign realm… not of this world… (Jn 18:36)
  • The patient endurance – to bear up under something… to persevere… (Matt 27:28-31)

These 3 things we are assured of sharing together because Christ shared in the same things… and all that we do, we do for the word and the testimony of Christ. We belong to Christ, and just as this world hated Christ and continues to hate Him and His message, it will and does hate us.

They say there are only 2 sure things in this world, death & taxes, but John tells us if we proclaim the testimony of Christ there are 3 sure things;

  • Tribulation
  • The kingdom
  • Patient endurance
